Benhashem explains confrontation with Nahdet Berkane’s assistant coach
Amine Benhashem, head coach of Nahdet Zemamra, has addressed the incident involving his confrontation with the assistant coach of RS Berkane, acknowledging that he physically confronted the opposing coach during a recent match.
The incident occurred after Berkane secured a 3-1 victory over Zemamra at the Colonel Ahmed Shukri Stadium.
Speaking at a post-match press conference, Benhashem explained the circumstances that led to the altercation.
He claimed that the assistant coach of RS Berkane had approached Zemamra’s bench and made provocative gestures, prompting him to react.
“The assistant coach of the opposing team was heading towards our bench, making provoking gestures.
I had to push him to make him stop and let us do our work,” Benhashem said.
He further elaborated, “Al-Shaabani and his assistant showed a lack of respect towards us.
Throughout the match, they kept provoking me with unacceptable remarks.
Even though I chose to ignore them, the assistant’s decision to cross the line and approach our bench was something I could not tolerate.”
Benhashem emphasized that the actions taken were out of character for him, highlighting his history of maintaining professionalism and respect on the field.
“Throughout my coaching career, I have never engaged in arguments with any player or coach.
Respect has always been my priority. But what happened during the match against RS Berkane was completely unacceptable, and a reaction was inevitable,” he added.
The match itself was a tense affair, ending with RS Berkane’s 3-1 win, solidifying their dominance over Zemamra.
However, the result was overshadowed by the post-match controversy involving the coaching staff of both teams.
The incident has sparked discussions about sportsmanship and conduct, with fans and analysts weighing in on the altercation.
As Nahdet Zemamra looks to move forward, the focus will undoubtedly be on maintaining discipline and professionalism in future matches, avoiding such confrontations that could disrupt the team’s momentum.
