Senegalese teen Bara Ndiaye eyes national team after Bayern Munich debut

A 19-year-old midfielder of Senegalese origin has set his sights on representing Senegal after making his professional debut for Bayern Munich.

Bara Sapoko Ndiaye recently took his first steps at senior level for the Bundesliga side, marking a significant milestone in his early career.

The young midfielder was introduced in the 84th minute during Bayern’s match against FC St. Pauli, where he quickly adapted to the tempo of top-flight football.

Despite the limited time on the pitch, Ndiaye made an immediate impression by completing all of his passes and holding his own in midfield duels.

His composed display offered an early glimpse of his potential at one of Europe’s most demanding clubs.

Speaking for the first time on the club’s official channel, in comments relayed by Wiw Sport, Ndiaye admitted that his initial experience came with some nerves but said he is growing in confidence.

“The first time I was there, I was a little nervous, but now it’s getting better and better,” he confided.

His transition into the first team has been supported by regular communication with head coach Vincent Kompany, who has encouraged him to maintain focus and consistency in his development. “He told me to keep working hard. That’s what makes the difference,” Ndiaye explained.

The midfielder also highlighted the importance of the dressing room environment in helping him settle. With several French-speaking teammates in the squad, Ndiaye has found it easier to integrate into daily life at the club.

He singled out Dayot Upamecano for special mention, describing him as a close figure within the team. “They’re very kind. Upamecano is like a brother to me. Many of them speak French, so it’s not difficult for me to interact,” he said.

Having been trained in Gambia before moving to Germany, Ndiaye used the opportunity to also outline his international ambitions.

The teenager made clear his intention to represent Senegal in the future and contribute to the national team’s success.

“I want to play football at the highest level, but also play for Senegal and help my team win.”

His emergence adds to the growing pool of young talents with Senegalese roots making their mark in European football, as he looks to build on his promising start at Bayern Munich.
