Diego Simeone Expresses Desire to Coach in Brazil One Day
Diego Simeone, widely regarded as one of the most successful coaches of the 2013-2014 season for leading Atlético Madrid to the La Liga title, has revealed his ambition to manage a Brazilian football club one day. In an interview with ESPN Brasil on Tuesday, the Argentine coach spoke candidly about his admiration for Brazilian football.
“Brazil is a dangerous team, with a lot of options, especially defensively, but with a very strong midfield,” Simeone said, analyzing Brazil’s chances at the upcoming World Cup. “If Brazil plays like they did in the Confederations Cup, with the same aggression and team play, they will be very dangerous at the World Cup.”
Simeone went on to share his long-standing interest in coaching in Brazil. “I’ll admit something to you: I’ve been thinking about coaching a team in Brazil for years. I would like to manage a Brazilian team one day. The talent of the players there, the style of football, the full stadiums are incredible. Yes, one day I would like to coach in Brazil.”
As he prepares Atlético Madrid for the highly anticipated Champions League final against Real Madrid on May 24, Simeone’s comments have sparked interest among football fans, with many wondering when he might take the next step in his coaching career to the Brazilian leagues.
