Aston Villa have entered the race to sign Inter Milan’s German-Cameroonian centre-back Yann Bisseck, as manager Unai Emery seeks to bolster his defensive line ahead of the club’s Champions League return.
Bisseck, who has been on the radar of several Premier League clubs in recent months—including Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur, West Ham United, Everton and Bournemouth—is now firmly in Aston Villa’s sights.
According to Gazzetta dello Sport, the 24-year-old has emerged as a key target for the West Midlands side as they prepare for a demanding 2024/25 campaign both domestically and in Europe.
Unai Emery is said to be particularly drawn to Bisseck’s versatility and physical presence, viewing him as an ideal fit for the defensive reinforcements he hopes to bring to Villa Park this summer.
With the club securing Champions League football for the first time in decades, Emery is prioritising depth and quality in defence to match the elevated level of competition.
Bisseck, a product of the FC Cologne youth system, has seen his stock rise rapidly since joining Inter Milan. Though not always a regular starter, his performances in Serie A have demonstrated composure, athleticism, and aerial dominance—attributes that make him a valuable asset in a top-tier European league.
Inter Milan, meanwhile, appear open to letting the defender leave—if the price is right. The Italian giants are reportedly hoping to offload Bisseck in order to fund a move for Parma’s highly rated teenage defender Giovanni Leoni.
The sale of Bisseck, currently valued at €35 million on Transfermarkt, could provide the financial flexibility needed to push forward with that acquisition.
The 24-year-old still has four years remaining on his contract at the San Siro, which runs until June 2029. He earns an annual salary of €1.92 million at Inter, a figure Aston Villa would likely have no trouble matching or exceeding to secure his services.
Should an agreement be reached between the two clubs, the deal could move quickly. Villa are known for moving decisively in the market, and with pre-season preparations underway, Emery will be keen to integrate any new signing as soon as possible.
Bisseck’s addition would provide crucial depth in a position where Villa are looking to strengthen. His ability to play in both a traditional back four and a three-man defence adds tactical flexibility to Emery’s setup, which will be tested across multiple competitions next season.
A switch to the Premier League would also mark the next major step in Bisseck’s career. Having developed through the German national youth teams and with international experience at U21 level, he now stands on the cusp of joining one of Europe’s most competitive leagues.
A move to England would not only enhance his exposure but could also place him in the frame for senior national team consideration.
As negotiations between Aston Villa and Inter Milan continue, the coming days may prove decisive in determining whether Yann Bisseck becomes the latest addition to Unai Emery’s Champions League-bound squad.
