Aston Villa eye €20m move for Egypt star Omar Marmoush
Aston Villa are reportedly considering a bold summer move for Egyptian forward Omar Marmoush, with the club’s recruitment plans expected to accelerate as they close in on Champions League qualification and prepare for a major Europa League final.
The summer transfer window is set to open in just a month, and speculation around Marmoush’s future is already intensifying, particularly as his role at Manchester City remains limited despite flashes of strong form.
The Premier League clubs’ ambitions are rising under manager Unai Emery, with the club targeting a strong finish to the season. They host Liverpool on Friday in a crucial Premier League fixture before travelling to face SC Freiburg in the Europa League final in Istanbul, followed by a demanding league trip to face Manchester City.
According to reports, Villa’s potential qualification for next season’s UEFA Champions League would significantly strengthen their financial position, giving them greater flexibility in the transfer market. Player sales could also further boost their budget ahead of what is expected to be an ambitious recruitment drive.
Marmoush has emerged as one of several names on Villa’s radar as they look to add depth and quality to their attacking options. The Egyptian forward has been linked with a move to Villa since January, largely due to his inconsistent starting opportunities at City.
This season, Marmoush has started just eight Premier League matches but has recently shown encouraging form, scoring in consecutive games against Crystal Palace and Brentford FC. His ability to make an impact in key moments has reportedly strengthened Villa’s interest, although any potential deal is expected to come at a significant cost.
Alongside Marmoush, Villa are also monitoring a wide range of potential targets as they prepare for a busy transfer window. These include Oscar Mingueza of Celta Vigo, Paris Saint-Germain youngster Ibrahim Mbaye, Marcus Rashford, Crysencio Summerville, Lucas Bergvall, Nicolas Jackson, Abde Ezzalzouli, and goalkeeper James Trafford of Manchester City.
Aston Villa’s recruitment strategy reflects their growing ambitions under Emery, as the club seeks to build a squad capable of competing on multiple fronts next season, including both domestic and European competitions.
While no formal negotiations have been confirmed yet, Marmoush remains a name firmly under consideration as Villa prepare for what could be one of their most important transfer windows in recent years.
