Arsenal reject interest from Juventus and Atletico Madrid in Noni Madueke
Noni Madueke is set to remain at Arsenal beyond the January transfer window despite his limited Premier League involvement, with Mikel Arteta unwilling to weaken his squad midway through the season.
The England winger has attracted interest from several major European clubs after struggling for regular league minutes since the start of the campaign.
However, Arsenal are understood to have no plans to consider offers for the 24-year-old when the transfer window reopens.
According to Football Insider, the Gunners are prepared to reject approaches for Madueke this winter as Arteta continues to regard him as an important member of his squad.
The Arsenal manager is reluctant to lose senior attacking depth during a demanding campaign, particularly with the club competing on multiple fronts.
European clubs keep tabs on winger
Madueke’s lack of consistent Premier League football has inevitably raised questions about his future in north London, with clubs in Italy and Spain reportedly monitoring his situation.
Juventus and Atletico Madrid are among the sides understood to have shown interest in the winger.
Juventus are reportedly considering a loan move in January as they look to strengthen their attacking options for the second half of the season.
Such a move, however, appears unlikely given Arsenal’s position and Madueke’s own willingness to remain in north London.
The former Chelsea winger is understood to have no immediate desire to leave Arsenal and is prepared to compete for his place in Arteta’s starting XI.
His situation could therefore remain unchanged until the end of the season, with the player expected to continue working for opportunities rather than seek a temporary move elsewhere.
Saka and Dowman block regular league starts
Madueke’s biggest obstacle has been the intense competition for attacking positions at Arsenal.
Bukayo Saka remains Arteta’s established option on the right flank, while teenager Max Dowman has also emerged as another player capable of competing for minutes.
That competition has left Madueke with only 24 minutes of Premier League action from two substitute appearances this season.
He is yet to score or provide an assist in the league, further highlighting his limited involvement in Arsenal’s domestic campaign.
The lack of minutes has contrasted sharply with his opportunities in cup and European competition, where Arteta has continued to use him.
Madueke started the Community Shield before featuring in Arsenal’s Champions League victory over Napoli.
He also found the net in the Carabao Cup, scoring during Arsenal’s 4-2 victory over Ipswich Town.
Arteta still values squad depth
Those appearances suggest Madueke remains part of Arteta’s plans despite his peripheral role in the Premier League.
Arsenal’s willingness to retain him also reflects the demands of their schedule, with the club requiring sufficient depth to navigate domestic and European competitions.
Rather than sanctioning a January departure, Arteta appears intent on keeping his attacking options intact and allowing Madueke to continue competing for a larger role.
For the winger, the immediate challenge will be turning his cup opportunities into a stronger claim for Premier League minutes.
With Arsenal unwilling to entertain a mid-season exit and Madueke prepared to fight for his place, interest from Juventus, Atletico Madrid and other European clubs is unlikely to result in a January transfer.
