The Algerian national team has maintained its 37th position globally in the November FIFA rankings, despite an impressive showing in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers. A goalless draw away to Equatorial Guinea and a commanding 5-1 home victory against Liberia have brought Algeria closer to Africa’s elite, now ranked fourth on the continent.
Algeria has overtaken Nigeria, placed 44th worldwide, and Côte d’Ivoire, ranked 46th and the current African champions.
The continental top three remain Morocco (14th globally), Senegal (17th), and Egypt (33rd).
Notably, Algeria’s World Cup group rivals, Mozambique, have climbed to 96th in the rankings, while Botswana, Uganda, and Somalia have also recorded upward movement, reaching 136th, 88th, and 202nd positions, respectively.
The steady improvement highlights Algeria’s progress and sets the stage for continued competition among Africa’s top footballing nations.
