Alexandrias Al Ittihad make six new signings to take summer arrivals to 17

Al Ittihad Alexandria have unveiled six further additions to Hamza El Gamal’s squad, taking the club’s total number of summer signings to 17.

The Egyptian Premier League side confirmed on Wednesday that they have strengthened across the pitch, bringing in players from Ceramica Cleopatra, Smouha, Zed and National Bank of Egypt as part of an extensive rebuild.

Goalkeeper Ali El Gabry joins from Ceramica Cleopatra on a four-year deal, becoming Al Ittihad’s latest long-term acquisition as the club reshapes its squad under El Gamal.

Also arriving from Ceramica Cleopatra is midfielder Nour Alaa, who moves on a season-long loan, while fellow midfielder Mohamed Toni has signed a three-year contract after completing a permanent transfer from the same club.

From city rivals Smouha, Al Ittihad have secured the services of midfielder El Habib Ahmed Hassan on a two-year deal, further bolstering their options in the middle of the park.

Defensive reinforcements come in the form of Islam Abdel Latt, signed from Zed on a one-year loan that includes an option to make the move permanent, giving Al Ittihad flexibility over his long-term future.

Completing the latest batch of recruits is winger Yousri Wahid, who joins on a season-long loan from National Bank of Egypt to add depth in wide areas.

Earlier business

The six new arrivals follow a flurry of earlier deals that has seen Al Ittihad overhaul almost every department of the team this summer.

From Smouha, the Alexandria club have already brought in Mido Mostafa, while Mohamed Fakhry has joined from Pharco and striker Hossam Hassan has arrived from Modern Sport.

Al Ittihad have also added Khaled Massad, Abdelrahman Hesham and Ahmed El Shazly to their ranks as part of the same recruitment drive.

In defence, right-back Moamen Awad has been signed from Haras El Hodood, with centre-back Moataz Mohamed joining from Al Ahly on a free transfer.

The club have further strengthened domestically by recruiting Ahmed Hamdi from Zamalek and Ahmed El Arabi from Ghazl El Mahalla.

On the foreign front, Al Ittihad have completed a deal for Ugandan midfielder Kenneth Ssemakula, who comes in to reinforce the midfield alongside the six latest signings.

Notable departures

Alongside the influx of new faces, Al Ittihad have allowed several established players to leave as El Gamal reshapes his squad.

Karim El Deeb, Mahmoud Shabana, goalkeeper Mahmoud Abdel Rahim Gennesh, Abdelghany Mohamed, Amr Khalil and Amr Gomaa have all departed the club.

Midfielder Mohamed Metwally, known as “Canaria”, has also moved on, as has forward Christovao Mabululu, underscoring the scale of change taking place at the Alexandria side ahead of the new season.
