The Olympique de Marseille players of African origin played a central role as their side defeated Angers 5-2 at the Stade Raymond-Kopa on matchday seven of Ligue 1.
In an entertaining contest featuring seven goals, Marseille established control through a series of contributions from its African players, who provided much of the attacking impetus behind a convincing away victory.
Algerian midfielder Himad Abdelli opened the scoring in the 37th minute, giving Marseille the breakthrough after a lively opening period. The visitors quickly extended their advantage when Malian player Nouhoum Kamissoko found the net six minutes later, in the 43rd minute.
Angers were unable to contain Marseille’s attacking pressure after the interval. The Algerian Amine Gouiri added another goal in the 60th minute, continuing the visitors’ strong finishing display and putting further distance between the sides.
Marseille maintained its threat in the closing stages, with the African influence again decisive. Morocco international Amine Harit scored in the 83rd minute, completing the latest contribution from the club’s African contingent.
Harit’s goal was created by Nigeria international Tochukwu Nnadi, whose assist underlined the range of attacking talent available to Marseille. The combination helped seal a high-scoring success and gave Olympique de Marseille renewed confidence.
The result came in a match in which Marseille’s efficiency in front of goal proved crucial. The visitors continued to apply pressure on the Angers defence throughout the second half, converting their opportunities to secure a 5-2 win.
