Saudi club Al-Shabab have reportedly decided to suspend Moroccan international Abderrazak Hamdallah until the end of the season following disciplinary issues involving one of his teammates.

According to Saudi newspaper Al-Riyadh, the club officially informed the Saudi Football Federation’s Professionalism and Players’ Status Committee of the decision through an urgent letter.

Incident With Yannick Carrasco Sparks Controversy

The report stated that the disciplinary action relates to what the club viewed as disrespectful behaviour toward Belgian midfielder Yannick Carrasco.

The controversy stems from an incident during a match on May 5 when Carrasco prepared to take a free-kick near the penalty area before Hamdallah reportedly intervened, took the ball away, and handed it to teammate Josh Braneshwell instead.

The situation created visible tension between the two players during key moments of the game and quickly generated widespread debate among supporters and local media.

Suspension Extended Through End of Campaign

Al-Shabab management have now reportedly escalated the punishment by extending Hamdallah’s suspension for the remainder of the season as the club seeks to maintain discipline within the squad.

The decision follows an earlier seven-day suspension linked to a dressing room confrontation after the team’s recent defeat against Al-Taawon.

As part of the latest disciplinary measures, Hamdallah has reportedly been excluded from group training sessions and instructed to train individually until the campaign concludes.

Hamdallah’s Season Numbers

Despite the off-field controversy, Hamdallah has still contributed important numbers for Al-Shabab this season.

The Moroccan striker has recorded seven goals and two assists in 15 appearances across domestic league and cup competitions.
