Al-Nassr begin legal push after Al-Wasl postponement

Al-Nassr have made their first formal move in response to the postponement of their AFC Champions League Elite fixture against Al-Wasl.

The Asian Football Confederation announced last week that the match, scheduled for the third round of the group stage, would not go ahead because Al-Wasl were unable to reach Saudi Arabia.

The decision caused anger in Saudi football, with the Saudi Arabian Football Federation issuing a statement to say that all the necessary arrangements had been made to receive the UAE club’s delegation.

According to Saudi newspaper Al-Riyadiyah, Al-Nassr have now written to the AFC requesting details of the reasons behind the postponement.

The Saudi club included documents it says demonstrate that the required landing permits and official approvals had been secured for Al-Wasl’s arrival.

Al-Nassr also submitted the flight number for the private aircraft provided by Al-Wasl before the UAE club changed its decision to travel to Riyadh.

The club intends to pursue all available legal procedures to protect its rights and seek to be awarded the points from the fixture. It will do so in coordination with the Saudi Arabian Football Federation.

Al-Nassr currently sit seventh in the West group of the AFC Champions League Elite with six points from two victories and one defeat. Their postponed match against Al-Wasl remains to be played.

The fixture comes amid domestic commitments for both clubs. Al-Nassr are scheduled to face Al Hazem in the Saudi Pro League on 06 November 2026, while Al-Wasl are due to play Al Jazira in the UAE Pro League on 08 November 2026.
