Al Ittihad Alexandria cleared to register former Al Ahly player Malek Yasser

Al Ittihad Alexandria have been confirmed as entitled to register Malek Yasser Abou El-Fotouh, after the Egyptian Basketball Federation’s Appeals Committee ruled in the club’s favour.

Ayman Sedky, head of the basketball department at Al Ittihad Alexandria, told FilGoal.com that the appeals process had established the club’s right to sign the former Al Ahly player.

“The Appeals Committee of the Egyptian Basketball Federation proved Al Ittihad Alexandria’s entitlement to sign Malek Yasser, the former Al Ahly player,” Sedky said.

He added that the player is expected to join his new team’s training sessions within days.

The ruling clears the way for Malek Yasser to be formally registered with Al Ittihad Alexandria and makes him the club’s second signing for next season. He follows Sami El Iraqi, who was announced as the team’s first new arrival.

The decision brings an end to the latest issue surrounding Malek Yasser’s registration, with the club having referred the matter to the federation’s Appeals Committee. Sedky said the committee had recognised Al Ittihad Alexandria’s entitlement to complete the move.

Malek Yasser will now be expected to integrate into the squad’s preparations once he begins training with his new team. The club’s basketball department has not provided any further details about the length of his contract or the precise date of his first session.

Al Ittihad Alexandria appointed Ahmed Omar as head coach several weeks ago, replacing Ashraf Tawfik. Omar’s appointment followed the team’s defeat by Al Ahly in last season’s Egyptian Basketball League final.

The coaching change and the arrival of Sami El Iraqi and Malek Yasser form part of Al Ittihad Alexandria’s preparations for the forthcoming campaign. The club will now have both new signings available as it begins to shape its squad under Omar.

For Malek Yasser, the appeals ruling represents the final step towards joining Al Ittihad Alexandria’s training programme. Sedky’s comments indicate that the player should report for duty in the coming days, subject to the completion of the club’s registration procedures.
