Al Ahly coach Hussein Ammouta has called on the club’s players who featured for Egypt at the 2026 FIFA World Cup to take time away from football and focus on mental recovery before returning to preparations for the new season.

According to Egyptian publication Youm7, Amouta believes the players need to use their two-week break to completely disconnect from the pressures of the game after a demanding period that included intense international competition with the national team.

The Moroccan coach wants the players to return refreshed and ready to begin preparations for a season in which Al Ahly are targeting success across multiple competitions.

Eight Al Ahly stars receive recovery period

The rest period applies to eight Al Ahly players who represented Egypt during the World Cup, including goalkeeper Mohamed El Shenawy, Mostafa Shobeir, Marwan Attia, Yasser Ibrahim, Mohamed Hany, Mahmoud Hassan Trezeguet, Emam Ashour and Ahmed Sayed Zizo.

The club’s medical staff believes the break will allow the players to recover mentally after months of sustained pressure, including a long domestic campaign followed by the demands of international football.

Focus on physical and mental readiness

Ammouta hopes the recovery period will help the players regain both their physical freshness and mental sharpness before returning to training.

The Al Ahly coach is preparing to build a squad capable of competing on several fronts next season and believes his World Cup players must return in the best possible condition to fully implement his plans.

The approach reflects the increasing importance of player management in modern football, particularly for those competing at both club and international level.
