Ahmed Sayed Zizo reaches 30 Egyptian Premier League penalties in Al Ahly draw

Ahmed Sayed “Zizo” scored his 30th penalty in the Egyptian Premier League as he rescued an equaliser for Al Ahly against ENPPI on the opening weekend of the season.

The two sides met at Cairo International Stadium, with the match beginning at 20:00 in the final fixture of the first round. Zizo converted from the spot in the 69th minute after Al Ahly were awarded a penalty when Achraf Bencharki was fouled.

The goal moved Zizo’s total for penalties scored for clubs during his career to 39. It also took him to 30 successful penalties in the Egyptian Premier League, with 26 of those goals coming during his time at Zamalek and four since joining Al Ahly.

Zizo has now scored from the penalty spot against ENPPI twice for Al Ahly, once this season and once last season. He has also converted penalties against Wadi Degla and Al Ittihad Alexandria since moving to the Cairo club.

Across all competitions, ENPPI have conceded five penalty goals to Zizo during his career.

The latest goal also took his total for Al Ahly in the Egyptian Premier League to six. He has reached that figure in 21 league appearances since joining the club last season.

Zizo’s penalty was the key moment in a match that formed part of the opening round of the Egyptian Premier League. His overall record from the spot includes goals scored for both Zamalek and Al Ahly, with the majority of his league penalties coming during his years with Zamalek.

For Al Ahly, the strike added to a growing league tally since his arrival last season and ensured he was on the scoresheet in the club’s first-round meeting with ENPPI. Bencharki’s role in winning the penalty provided the opportunity for Zizo, who made no mistake from 12 yards in the 69th minute.

His latest conversion continues a notable scoring record against ENPPI. Five of his penalty goals in all competitions have come against the club, including the two scored for Al Ahly across the current season and the previous campaign.

Zizo’s career penalty figures now stand at 39 goals for clubs, while his Egyptian Premier League total has reached 30. Of that league tally, 26 were scored for Zamalek and four have been registered for Al Ahly.
