African transfer update: Osuji moves to Tromsø while Newcastle target Diabate
Tromsø IL have announced the signing of Nigerian central defender Vince Osuji from Club Bruges, while Newcastle United have reached an agreement to sign Guinean midfielder Ousmane Diabate from Genclerbirligi Ankara, according to journalist Fabrizio Romano.
Osuji, 20, was confirmed as a Tromsø IL player in a statement published on the Norwegian club’s Instagram account. The defender joins after his spell with Club Bruges.
A person close to Osuji discussed the transfer and the ambitions of the young Nigerian during an interview with Footy-Africa. The source also provided further comments about the move, although no additional details were included in the report.
Osuji’s estimated market value is €800,000.
Diabate, meanwhile, is set to move to Newcastle United after the clubs and the player reached an agreement, according to Romano. The 18-year-old defensive midfielder had attracted interest from several sides and is reported to have received three other concrete offers.
Tottenham were among the clubs monitoring Diabate, according to exclusive information reported by Africafoot. However, the teenager was persuaded by Newcastle United’s project.
The Guinea international is expected to remain with Genclerbirligi Ankara on loan after completing the move to the Premier League club. That arrangement would allow him to continue his development with the Turkish side.
Interest grows in Sunderland winger Ta Bi
Jocelin Ta Bi has emerged as one of the most sought-after young African attackers after impressing for Cote d’Ivoire at the Maurice Revello Tournament.
The 21-year-old right winger joined Sunderland last winter but has seen his progress interrupted by injury in recent months. Despite that setback, his performances and potential continue to attract interest.
According to Foot Mercato, Lyon, FC Lorient, OGC Nice and Le Havre are interested in signing Ta Bi on loan. English clubs are also understood to be monitoring the player, with West Ham, Burnley and Hull City among those linked with a move.
Ta Bi scored four goals and provided one assist during the tournament in Toulon. Sunderland, however, have rejected all the offers received for the player.
He is under contract at Sunderland until 30 June 2030, with the club holding an option to extend the agreement by a further year. Transfermarkt estimates his market value at €2.5m.
Targhalline could leave Feyenoord
Moroccan international Oussama Targhalline could leave Feyenoord before the summer transfer window closes, according to ESPN.
Talks over a new contract have stalled, with the Dutch club’s proposal failing to meet the midfielder’s expectations. Targhalline is reportedly earning a lower salary than several of Feyenoord’s other key players and is unhappy with the terms on offer.
The 24-year-old has also been used sparingly this season, increasing the possibility of a departure. His current contract runs until 30 June 2028.
Several clubs are believed to be monitoring Targhalline, including teams from Ligue 1. His estimated market value is €16m, according to Transfermarkt.
