Abdellah Ouazane is emerging as one of the most promising young talents of his generation, but the 17-year-old Morocco attacking midfielder is refusing to look too far ahead despite his rapid progress with Ajax Amsterdam.
Ouazane made another significant contribution on Thursday as Ajax defeated Atalanta 2-0 in the second matchday of the Conference League. Introduced in the 62nd minute, he sealed the victory in the closing stages with the second goal, finishing a fine individual move.
The strike further underlined the qualities that have made Ouazane one of the players to watch at Ajax. His ability to carry the ball, create opportunities and make an impact in the final third has helped establish him as an increasingly influential attacking option.
The 2025 Africa U-17 Cup of Nations winner discussed the goal and his confidence in his own ability during an interview with Ziggo Sport.
Despite his growing reputation, Ouazane is keen to maintain his focus on development rather than allow speculation about his long-term future to become a distraction. The Morocco international is already regarded as a player capable of reaching the highest level, while his performances have reportedly attracted interest from several major European clubs.
However, he has chosen to remain measured in his ambitions and is concentrating on continuing his progress at Ajax Amsterdam.
Ouazane is under contract with the Dutch club until June 2028. His current market value is estimated at €8m by Transfermarkt.
He has made 16 appearances in all competitions since the start of the season, scoring two goals and providing three assists.
Ajax Amsterdam’s next fixture will come in the 10th round of the Dutch league, when they face Sparta Rotterdam. The match is listed with odds of 1.41 for an Ajax victory, 4.60 for a draw and 5.00 for a Sparta Rotterdam win.
