Thabo Moloisane happy after Kaizer Chiefs move

Newly-signed Kaizer Chiefs defender Thabo Moloisane has described his transfer to the Soweto giants as a “dream come true”, revealing that the club had been monitoring him for the past three years before finally securing his signature.

The centre-back joined Amakhosi from Stellenbosch FC ahead of the new season, ending months of speculation over his future after opting against extending his stay with the Cape Winelands outfit.

Moloisane disclosed that although Stellenbosch offered him a new contract last season, he turned it down after learning of Chiefs’ interest, determined to seize the opportunity to join one of South Africa’s biggest clubs.

Speaking to Kaizer Chiefs’ media team, the defender admitted he was both surprised and delighted when his agent informed him that the move had finally materialised after years of anticipation.

“To be honest, it took a bit long. It was ‘on the cards’ for about three years,” Moloisane said.

“When my agent informed me of the move I was a little surprised and very happy because it meant that I was doing well to be wanted by Chiefs. I spent time at Naturena when I was a young boy learning under the supervision of the kitman at the time so it’s a place I know pretty well; it is a part of my youth and I grew up loving the Club and this is a dream come true for me.”

The move carries special significance for Moloisane, who has fond childhood memories of Naturena long before becoming a professional footballer.

Recalling his earliest experience at the club, he revealed how he once helped collect match tickets as a youngster—never imagining he would one day wear the famous black and gold jersey.

“My first ‘task’ as a young boy at Chiefs was to collect tickets for a match, and now I am one of the players who will represent Chiefs in front of the supporters,” he added.

The defender acknowledged the expectations that come with playing for Kaizer Chiefs and vowed to uphold the club’s proud tradition.

“It means so much to me to be at the biggest Club in South Africa. It comes with a responsibility to maintain the high standards that have made this Club great.”

Moloisane is expected to strengthen Chiefs’ defensive options as the club looks to build a competitive squad capable of challenging for domestic honours and making a strong impression in the upcoming season.
