Liverpool and Chelsea tracking Brentford defender El Hadji Malick Diouf in potential €60m deal
El Hadji Malick Diouf could become one of the most expensive players on the next transfer market, with Liverpool and Chelsea monitoring the Brentford left-back.
The 21-year-old Senegal international joined Brentford last summer for €40m following West Ham’s relegation. Just a few months into his time with the club, his performances have reportedly attracted interest from two of the Premier League’s leading clubs.
According to 4-4-2.ch, Liverpool and Chelsea are following Diouf’s situation closely and could make a move. The clubs are also said to have already contacted representatives of the player as they prepare for a possible approach.
A potential transfer fee of between €50m and €60m has been suggested. Such a deal would give Brentford the prospect of a substantial profit on a player who arrived at the club only last summer.
Diouf’s pace, acceleration and attacking influence from the left side are understood to be key factors behind his growing valuation. Although competition within the Brentford squad means he is still occasionally required to begin matches on the bench, his potential continues to attract attention from major English clubs.
The Senegalese defender is contracted to Brentford until 2031, with an option for a further year. Transfermarkt currently values him at €35m, meaning the reported market figure of €50m to €60m would be significantly higher than that estimate.
Such a fee would represent a major financial opportunity for Brentford, who are also known as the Bees, should either Liverpool or Chelsea decide to formalise their interest.
Brentford’s next fixture is their 11th match of the English league season, against Everton. The listed odds for the game are 1.75 for a Brentford win, 3.40 for a draw and 3.40 for an Everton victory.
