CAF Super Cup: Sundowns and USM Alger to battle for $500,000 prize
Mamelodi Sundowns and USM Alger will compete for a $500,000 winner’s prize when they meet in the 2026 CAF Super Cup final on Sunday, November 8.
The two sides will face off at Loftus Versfeld Stadium in Pretoria, South Africa, with kick-off scheduled for 13:00 GMT (15:00 local time).
Sundowns secured their place in the annual continental showpiece after winning the 2025/26 CAF Champions League, while USM Alger qualified as champions of the 2025/26 CAF Confederation Cup.
The encounter will bring together the winners of Africa’s two premier club competitions, with both teams seeking to add another continental trophy to their respective honours.
Playing on home soil, Sundowns will have the opportunity to claim the Super Cup in front of their supporters as they look to capitalise on their status as Champions League winners.
However, USM Alger will be determined to upset the South African giants and underline their credentials as one of the continent’s leading club sides.
The final will be decided over a single match, with no extra time scheduled if the teams are level after 90 minutes. Should the contest end in a draw, the winner will be determined directly through a penalty shoot-out.
Mauritanian referee Dahane Beida has been appointed to take charge of the encounter.
With $500,000 at stake for the winners, Sunday’s showdown promises to be a significant occasion for both clubs as they pursue continental glory and the financial reward that comes with lifting the CAF Super Cup.
