Junior Dina Ebimbe fit for Schalke 04 after escaping serious injury scare
FC Schalke 04 have received a positive injury update on Junior Dina Ebimbe ahead of Sunday’s Bundesliga encounter against TSG Hoffenheim.
The 25-year-old midfielder is fully fit and available for selection after concerns emerged when he prematurely ended Wednesday’s training session with apparent thigh discomfort.
Dina Ebimbe had been seen holding his thigh before leaving the training pitch, raising fears that Schalke could suffer another injury setback ahead of their trip to Sinsheim.
However, head coach Miron Muslić provided reassurance during Friday’s press conference, confirming that the Frenchman had not suffered a serious injury.
“There’s nothing serious. Ebimbe was cold and his muscle tightened up,” Muslić explained.
The Schalke manager also confirmed that the midfielder had completed unrestricted training sessions on Thursday and Friday, meaning he is available for the weekend fixture.
Muslić yet to decide Dina Ebimbe’s best position
Despite confirming his fitness, Muslić remains undecided about the midfielder’s long-term role following Schalke’s tactical switch to a back four.
Dina Ebimbe offers versatility, having previously featured in several midfield and defensive positions, but the coach is keeping his options open.
Asked where he sees the Frenchman fitting into the new system, Muslić refused to commit to a specific position.
“That will be determined in the future. We have to do what we believe in. And we believe that the back four will help us in the coming months,” the Schalke coach explained.
His availability provides another option for Muslić as Schalke prepare for Sunday’s meeting with Hoffenheim.
The Königsblauen will be hoping to secure a positive result before the international break as they look to improve their Bundesliga form.
