Moussa Sylla targets return for Schalke 04 after international break
FC Schalke 04 are hopeful of welcoming Moussa Sylla back from injury after the upcoming international break, with the striker potentially returning for their Bundesliga encounter against VfB Stuttgart.
The 26-year-old has been sidelined with a leg injury sustained during Schalke’s 2-1 defeat against SC Freiburg on October 11 and has missed several matches since then.
Speaking at Friday’s press conference ahead of Sunday’s away fixture against TSG Hoffenheim, head coach Miron Muslić provided an encouraging update on the forward’s recovery.
“With Sylla, the cautiously optimistic plan is that he could be available for us after the international break against Stuttgart,” Muslić explained.
However, the Schalke manager stopped short of guaranteeing the striker’s return, with his fitness still needing to be assessed before he can resume competitive action.
Sylla’s return could boost Schalke’s attack
Sylla’s potential comeback would provide an important boost for Schalke, who have struggled to find consistency in front of goal this season.
The Mali international offers pace, movement and a direct attacking threat, qualities that have been missing during his absence.
Schalke will therefore hope to have him available when they host VfB Stuttgart following the international break.
For now, the 2-0 away defeat against Hoffenheim remains the immediate challenge, with Muslić having to manage his attacking options without the injured forward.
The Königsblauen will be targeting a positive result before the international interruption as they look to improve their Bundesliga campaign.
