Raphinha signs new Barcelona contract to stay until 2030

Barcelona forward Raphinha has extended his contract with the club until 2030 after being rewarded for his outstanding performances this season.

The Brazil international’s previous agreement was due to run until 2028, but the Spanish champions have acted quickly to secure his future after an exceptional start to the campaign.

Raphinha has scored 19 goals in 13 appearances in all competitions this season. His latest contribution came on Tuesday, when he scored twice in Barcelona’s 3-0 Champions League win over Aston Villa.

“I’m very proud to have renewed my contract, considering everything we’ve achieved individually and collectively,” Raphinha said. “If my legs allow me to keep going, I’d love to finish my career at this club.”

The 29-year-old has undergone a significant change in role under manager Hansi Flick. After previously becoming an established presence on the left wing, the former Leeds United player has moved into a central attacking position following the departures of Robert Lewandowski and Ferran Torres.

Raphinha has adapted to the role as Barcelona’s number nine, contributing goals and assists as Flick’s side have won 13 of their first 15 matches.

His form has also helped cement his importance to the team at a key point in the season. Barcelona are preparing to face Atletico Madrid away from home in Sunday’s top-of-the-table La Liga meeting.

Raphinha was also asked about his fitness ahead of Brazil’s forthcoming international fixtures and admitted he had not yet fully recovered.

“The national team coach will know how to manage my minutes,” he said. “We’ve spoken and he knows I’m not at 100% yet. Culers shouldn’t be worried.”
