Harry Kane says his strong connection with Bayern Munich, the club’s supporters and Allianz Arena convinced him to extend his contract with the German champions until 2029.
Bayern Munich announced on Thursday that the England international had signed a new deal, extending his stay beyond his previous contract, which was due to expire in the summer of 2027.
Kane said he was proud to remain at the club and praised the quality of the squad and the work of head coach Vincent Kompany.
“I feel at home here at Bayern Munich,” Kane said in a statement published on the club’s official website. “I love this club, the fans and Allianz Arena. We have a great team and a great coach in Vincent Kompany. Staying here makes me feel proud.”
The 32-year-old joined Bayern from English club Tottenham in the summer of 2023 and has since established himself as a central figure in the side.
According to Bavarian newspaper AZ, Kane’s new contract does not contain an option to extend his stay for another year until 2030.
The report said Bayern had met the striker’s requirements over his salary and image rights, alongside other provisions included in the agreement. Kane is set to earn more than any previous player in Bayern’s history, with his annual salary potentially exceeding 25m euros, according to the report.
His new deal will keep him at Bayern until the summer of 2029. The extension also represents a further commitment from the club to a player who has maintained a prolific record since moving to Germany.
Kane has made 161 appearances for Bayern Munich so far, scoring 156 goals. He was described in the report as the world’s best player this year.
The extension means Kane is now contracted to remain with Bayern for the next three seasons beyond the end of his previous agreement. His decision follows a period in which he has continued to deliver regularly in front of goal for the club.
Bayern’s announcement confirms the length of the new contract, while the salary and image-rights details were reported by AZ. The agreement does not include a further renewal option taking Kane through to 2030.
