AFCO 2027 Qualifiers: Pitso Mosimane names Bafana Bafana squad for Kenya double-header

Bafana Bafana coach Pitso Mosimane has announced his squad for South Africa’s back-to-back 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers against Kenya in November.

South Africa will host the Harambee Stars at the Orlando Amstel Arena in Johannesburg on Friday, 13 November, before travelling to Nairobi for the return fixture on Tuesday, 17 November 2026.

Mosimane has named a 30-man squad, combining established internationals with players based in Europe and the United States as South Africa prepare for the two encounters.

Goalkeeper Ronwen Williams headlines the selection, alongside Sipho Chaine and Ricardo Goss, while Olwethu Makhanya, Ime Okon and Lebone Seema are also included.

The defensive department features Aubrey Modiba, Samukele Kabini, Fawaaz Basadien, Thapelo Morena and Thabang Matuludi, with Mbekezeli Mbokazi also earning a place in the squad.

In midfield, Teboho Mokoena, Thalente Mbatha, Sphephelo Sithole, Bathusi Aubaas and Brooklyn Poggenpoel have been selected.

The attacking options include Iqraam Rayners, Lyle Foster, Cassius Mailula, Oswin Appollis, Puso Dithejane, Tashreeq Matthews, Relebohile Mofokeng, Luther Singh, Tshepang Moremi and Siyanda Ndlovu.

South Africa will be looking to make the most of home advantage in the first meeting before facing a potentially difficult assignment away from home in Nairobi.

The two matches could prove important in shaping the Group C qualification campaign as Bafana Bafana continue their pursuit of a place at the 2027 AFCON finals.

The November double-header also provides Mosimane with an opportunity to assess his squad and strengthen the team’s preparations ahead of the remainder of the qualifying campaign.
