Kane commits future to Bayern as new deal reportedly makes him Europe’s top earner

Harry Kane has extended his Bayern Munich contract until June 2029, with the new agreement reportedly making the England captain the highest-paid player in Europe.

Bayern Munich confirmed the renewal on Thursday, ending speculation about Kane’s future as he enters the latest stage of his career with the German champions. The striker was recently awarded the 2026 Ballon d’Or after being named the world’s best player.

Reports in Germany, cited by the Daily Mail, say Kane’s new contract increases his weekly wage to £400,000. That figure is believed to represent the highest basic salary in European football.

Kane enjoyed a remarkable season for club and country, scoring 73 goals in 65 appearances. His performances earned him the Ballon d’Or ahead of Kylian Mbappe and Lamine Yamal at last week’s ceremony in London.

The 33-year-old has scored 156 goals in 161 matches since joining Bayern Munich from Tottenham Hotspur in 2023 for £86m. His original contract was due to enter its final six months, raising the prospect of a return to the Premier League.

That possibility has now been removed, with Kane committed to a further three years in Germany. A move back to England could have given him the opportunity to challenge Alan Shearer’s record for Premier League goals, but he will instead continue his pursuit of success with Bayern Munich.

Kane had not won a trophy before leaving Tottenham Hotspur, but has collected five major honours during the past two years. His haul includes two Bundesliga titles, the DFB-Pokal and two German Super Cups.

His success has also extended to the international stage. This summer, Kane helped England achieve their best World Cup finish since 1966, with the Three Lions claiming the bronze medal.

The England captain scored six goals in seven matches at the tournament under manager Thomas Tuchel, adding to a season in which his individual and team achievements placed him at the centre of European football’s biggest awards.

Bayern Munich’s Bundesliga schedule includes a match against Mainz on 07 November 2026.
