David Mokwa: Villarreal linked with SV Elversberg forward

French-Cameroonian forward David Mokwa is being linked with a move from SV Elversberg to Villarreal, with the Spanish club reported to be monitoring the 22-year-old ahead of a possible transfer to La Liga.

Mokwa has started the 2026-27 Bundesliga campaign regularly, making eight appearances and recording two goals and one assist. He has also featured twice in the DFB-Pokal.

The centre-forward joined Elversberg from Hoffenheim in January 2026 in a deal worth €1.5m. His current market value is listed at €7m, although there is no indication that Villarreal have made a formal offer or that negotiations have begun.

Mokwa has a contract with the German club until 30 June 2029. He had previously progressed through Hoffenheim’s reserve and youth sides after joining the club from Sochaux’s academy in 2022.

His only senior honour came with Hoffenheim II, when he helped the side win the German Regionalliga Southwest title in the 2024-25 season.

Elversberg are competing in Germany’s top flight this season, while Villarreal are seeking players who can move between central attacking roles. Any transfer would therefore involve Mokwa leaving a club with which he has only been contracted for less than a year, despite his strong start to the current campaign.
