Ibrahim Maza reveals Paris Saint-Germain dream amid transfer speculation
Algerian midfielder Ibrahim Maza has admitted that playing for Paris Saint-Germain is one of his ambitions, amid reports linking the Bayer Leverkusen youngster with a move to the French champions.
The 20-year-old expressed his admiration for PSG in an interview with Sky Germany, describing a potential move to the club as a dream.
“Of course, it would be a big dream to one day play for such a great club. I think we all know the greatness of Paris Saint-Germain. It is one of the best clubs in the world, along with Real Madrid, Barcelona and Arsenal,” Maza said.
He added, according to Foot Mercato: “Playing for a club like this is a goal I seek, as is the case with many football players.”
PSG interest in Maza yet to produce negotiations
Maza’s comments come amid reports that PSG are monitoring his progress at Bayer Leverkusen.
However, the reported interest has not developed into formal negotiations. Reports citing RMC indicate that the French club does not currently intend to open talks over a deal for the Algerian international.
His market value is estimated at around €50 million by Transfermarkt, while Bayer Leverkusen are reportedly keen to extend his contract, which currently runs until 2030.
Maza has impressed since joining the German club, with some viewing him as a potential successor to Florian Wirtz, who now plays for Liverpool.
PSG consider attacking options amid injury concerns
PSG are also assessing their attacking options following the long-term absence of Jvica Kvaratskhelia due to a cruciate ligament injury.
Despite the injury situation, head coach Luis Enrique has indicated that the club will not necessarily sign a replacement during the upcoming winter transfer window.
“No, not necessarily. The absence of injuries does not necessarily mean signing new players. At the beginning of the season, I said that we are capable of dealing with anything, even in the event of serious injuries, but we are still open to the available opportunities.”
Meanwhile, PSG have also been linked with 20-year-old Bournemouth striker Elie Junior Karroubi, with English media reports suggesting renewed interest in the forward.
Maza and Karroubi remain among the names mentioned in reports about PSG’s potential attacking options, although there has been no indication of an official move for either player.
