Aboubakar Nagida suspended for upcoming AFCON qualifiers

Cameroon will be without defender Aboubakar Nagida for their upcoming 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying clash against Namibia after the left-back picked up a suspension through an accumulation of yellow cards.

The Indomitable Lions are preparing for their third Group G fixture against Namibia on November 12, but head coach David Pagou will have to make adjustments to his defensive setup following Nagida’s unavailability.

The defender’s suspension comes as a setback for Cameroon, particularly given his role on the left side of the defence. His absence leaves Pagou with the task of identifying a suitable replacement ahead of the crucial encounter.

The Cameroonian technical team will now have to assess its available options and settle on an alternative capable of filling the gap left by the Bayer Leverkusen youngster.

Despite the defensive setback, Cameroon head into the November double-header in a strong position after making an encouraging start to their qualifying campaign.

The five-time African champions currently lead Group G with four points from their opening two matches, having recorded one victory and one draw.

Cameroon will host Namibia on November 12 before travelling for the return fixture on November 16, with both matches offering an opportunity to strengthen their grip on the group.

Pagou’s side will be eager to collect maximum points from the two encounters and maintain their position at the top of the standings as they pursue qualification for the 2027 AFCON tournament.
