Andorra goalkeeper could face 12-match suspension after Tenerife player dies following collision

Andorra goalkeeper Jesus Lazaro Uno could be banned for up to 12 matches after being sent off during the final stages of the match between Tenerife and Andorra at the Heliodoro Rodriguez Lopez stadium.

The potential suspension follows what was described as a “sudden collision” with Tenerife player Jesus de Miguel, who died early on Tuesday after being taken to the emergency department at Hospital Universitario Nuestra Senora de Candelaria.

According to Mundo Deportivo, the Spanish Football Federation’s Competition Committee could apply Article 102 of its regulations. The provision covers violent conduct towards an opponent during a match when it causes serious or harmful consequences, provided the incident does not constitute a more serious offence.

Article 102 states: “Any violent act against an opponent during a match which produces serious or harmful consequences, either by its nature or because of the resulting inactivity, and provided it does not constitute a more serious offence, shall be punished by a suspension of between four and 12 matches.”

Match referee Manuel Angel Perez Hernandez sent both teams to their dressing rooms after the incident left Tenerife’s Jesus de Miguel unconscious on the pitch. He cited the seriousness of the situation in his report.

Perez Hernandez also recorded that the match was abandoned in the 96th minute “by mutual agreement between all parties”.

In a statement published on the Spanish Football Federation’s official website, the referee said: “The match was stopped in the 96th minute for the medical treatment of the home team’s number 9. Given the seriousness of the situation and the absence of any improvement in the player’s condition, we withdrew to the dressing rooms.”

The disciplinary decision is therefore expected to determine whether the collision is treated under Article 102 and, if so, where within the four-to-12-match range Jesus Lazaro Uno’s punishment would fall.

Other fixtures listed alongside the report include CD Badajoz in the Copa del Rey on 04 November 2026, while Tenerife and Andorra are scheduled to meet in the Segunda Division on 08 November 2026, with Mallorca also listed.
