Al Ahly midfielder Ahmed Nabil “Koka” is to undergo a magnetic resonance imaging scan to determine the extent of a lower-back injury and identify the appropriate treatment programme.
Koka was hurt during the warm-up before Al Ahly’s match against Arab Contractors on Monday evening. He experienced pain in his lower back and was unable to take part in the game.
Al Ahly won 1-0, with Ashraf Bencharki scoring in the closing minutes to secure the club’s second victory in the Egypt Capital Cup.
The club said Koka received a physiotherapy session on Tuesday under the supervision of the medical team, led by Ahmed Gaballah. The scan will provide further details about the injury and help determine his recovery plan.
Al Ahly have now begun preparations for their next fixture, against Seka El Hadid at Cairo Stadium on Saturday in the last 32 of the Egypt Cup.
Koka has made six appearances for Al Ahly this season but has not scored or provided an assist.
