Hamادة القلاوي and خالد جمال الغندور suspended after Zed penalty error

حمادة القلاوي and video assistant referee خالد جمال الغندور are set to be suspended after Zed were denied a penalty in their Egyptian Premier League match against سيراميكا كليوباترا, a source from the referees’ committee told FilGoal.com.

The decision follows the officials’ handling of an incident involving Zed forward طارق علاء and سيراميكا كليوباترا goalkeeper محمد علاء.

القلاوي initially awarded Zed a penalty after محمد علاء was judged to have fouled طارق علاء. However, خالد جمال الغندور, acting as the video referee, asked the on-field official to review the incident.

After checking the footage, القلاوي overturned his original decision and the penalty was not awarded.

The Football Association’s official account later published the referees’ committee’s analysis of the match incidents. The review stated that the referee had made an error by failing to award Zed a penalty.

سيراميكا كليوباترا went on to win the eighth-round league match 2-1.

The result took سيراميكا كليوباترا to 18 points and fourth place in the table, while Zed remained on 11 points in 10th.
