Udinese seek first home clean-sheet double over Roma in Serie A

Udinese will attempt to achieve a feat they have not managed for 28 years when they host Roma in Serie A on Saturday, 31 October 2026.

The match is one of three fixtures opening the league’s 10th round, with Bologna hosting Monza before the Milan derby between Milan and Inter. The Serie A matches are broadcast on stc tv.

Roma sit third in the table with 21 points, while Udinese are 17th with five points from their opening nine games.

Statistics provider Opta says Udinese have won two of their past four home meetings with Roma in Serie A. That is the same number of victories they recorded across their previous 12 home matches against the capital club, a run that also included two draws and eight defeats.

Udinese kept a clean sheet in the most recent meeting between the sides at their ground and will now attempt to shut Roma out in successive home matches for the first time in the competition’s history.

They also won their last Serie A encounter with Roma. However, Udinese have not recorded consecutive victories over the capital side since 1997-98, when they secured four successive wins under manager Alberto Zaccheroni.

Contrasting league records

Udinese have taken only five points from their first nine matches this season. Their only worse start came in 1961-62, when they collected three points.

Their attacking form has also deteriorated, with just one goal scored in their past five Serie A games. They have failed to score in each of their last three.

Udinese have not gone four consecutive league matches without finding the net since April 2025. That remains the only sequence of its kind in their history during the era of three points for a win.

They have also lost their last four home matches in Serie A and failed to score in the most recent three. A fifth successive home defeat would be their first since February to May 2018, when they lost six in a row.

The club have not previously played four consecutive home league matches without scoring in a single season since October 1993 to January 1994, when they failed to score in five successive games.

Roma, by contrast, have scored 23 goals this season. They have only exceeded that total after 10 rounds in four previous Serie A campaigns: 26 in 1960-61, 24 in 2013-14, 25 in 2015-16 and 26 in 2016-17.

Roma forward Emmanuel Loli scored his second league goal of the season at the age of 19 years and 71 days. If he scores against Udinese at 19 years and 75 days, he will become one of the youngest players in Roma’s history to reach three Serie A goals.

Only seven younger players have achieved that milestone for Roma, with Francesco Totti the most recent, in 1995.

Roma are unbeaten in their four away league matches this season, recording two wins and two draws. They have not avoided defeat in their first five away games since 2019-20, when they registered three wins and two draws.
