The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has announced a partnership with the Uganda Tourism Board (UTB) to promote Uganda as a leading tourism destination ahead of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations.

The agreement will see Uganda showcased to a wider international audience during the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda 2027, which will be jointly hosted by the three East African countries under the PAMOJA banner.

The partnership, which makes the Uganda Tourism Board an official partner of AFCON PAMOJA 2027, is expected to provide a major platform for the country to highlight its tourism attractions and strengthen its international profile.

The agreement was officially launched in Kampala, Uganda, with CAF General Secretary Samson Adamu in attendance.

He was joined by Uganda Tourism Board Chief Executive Officer Juliana Kagwa and Minister of State for Education and Sports Peter Ogwang.

Also present at the launch were Minister of State for Tourism, Wildlife and Antiquities Susan Nakawuki Nsambu and the Deputy Speaker of Uganda’s Parliament, Right Honourable Thomas Tayebwa, who served as the Chief Guest.

The collaboration highlights the growing relationship between football and tourism, with major sporting competitions increasingly providing host nations with opportunities to attract international visitors, promote their cultural heritage and stimulate economic activity.

For Uganda, the 2027 tournament represents an important opportunity to showcase its natural attractions, wildlife, cultural heritage and hospitality to football supporters travelling from across Africa and beyond.

The 2027 edition will be particularly significant as it marks the first time that Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda will jointly host the continent’s flagship football competition.

The three countries are expected to use the tournament to strengthen regional cooperation while delivering an event that extends beyond the football pitch.

CAF’s partnership with the Uganda Tourism Board therefore forms part of the broader efforts to maximise the commercial, cultural and tourism opportunities associated with AFCON 2027.

With preparations continuing across the three host nations, the agreement represents another step towards positioning the PAMOJA tournament as both a major sporting event and a platform for showcasing East Africa to the world.
