Ezzalzouli’s Real Betis commitment makes Paris Saint-Germain move unlikely

Abdessamad Ezzalzouli is unlikely to leave Real Betis for Paris Saint-Germain at present, according to Italian journalist Matteo Moretto, despite the Morocco winger being linked with the French club as they search for cover for the injured Khvicha Kvaratskhelia.

Moretto said the possibility of Ezzalzouli moving to Paris should not be assumed simply because he shares an agent with Achraf Hakimi and is a close friend of the Paris Saint-Germain defender.

The 24-year-old was given the opportunity to leave Real Betis last summer but remains under contract with the Spanish club until 2029. Moretto said Ezzalzouli is happy at Real Betis, making a move to Paris Saint-Germain difficult in the current circumstances.

“Ezzalzouli does share an agent with Hakimi, and he is also a very close friend of his,” Moretto said on DAZN. “However, the player already had the chance to leave Real Betis last summer. He is under contract with the club until 2029 and is very happy there.

“I have been told that a move to Paris Saint-Germain does not have a great chance of happening at the moment.”

Paris Saint-Germain consider attacking options

Ezzalzouli’s name emerged among the potential options for Paris Saint-Germain after Kvaratskhelia suffered a torn cruciate ligament during the match against Barcelona. The injury is expected to keep the Georgia forward out for the rest of the season.

Paris Saint-Germain are regularly prepared to enter the transfer market when their coaching and administrative staff believe the squad needs strengthening. Kvaratskhelia’s absence has therefore led to speculation that the club could recruit another attacking player.

Ezzalzouli has made significant progress in recent months and has established himself as one of the most influential forwards in Spanish football. His growing profile has also strengthened his standing on the European stage.

His statistics from last season reflected that development. The Morocco international scored 15 goals and supplied 13 assists, underlining the improvement he made in the attacking aspects of his game.

Despite those performances and the connection created by his relationship with Hakimi, Moretto’s assessment suggests that Ezzalzouli’s immediate future remains at Real Betis rather than Paris Saint-Germain.
