Pierre Sage delivers worrying Ismaïla Sarr injury update ahead of Tottenham clash
Crystal Palace manager Pierre Sage has cast doubt over Ismaïla Sarr’s availability for Sunday’s trip to Tottenham, admitting that the Senegal international is currently not fit to play.
Sarr has missed Crystal Palace’s last two matches because of a groin injury, leaving his involvement in the upcoming London derby uncertain.
Speaking at a press conference on Thursday, Sage was asked about the winger’s condition and whether he could return to the squad ahead of the Tottenham encounter.
However, the French manager offered little encouragement, suggesting that the 28-year-old would not be ready for the fixture.
“At the moment, he is not able to play,” Sage said.
The latest update will be a concern for Crystal Palace, who are still waiting for the Senegalese forward to overcome his injury problems and return to action.
Sarr’s start to the campaign has been disrupted by fitness issues, with the former Watford player struggling to enjoy a consistent run of appearances.
The winger has managed just 122 minutes of football since the beginning of the season, highlighting how much his involvement has been affected by his physical problems.
His absence from the last two matches has also limited Sage’s attacking options as Crystal Palace prepare for another demanding Premier League fixture.
The Eagles will now have to assess their options ahead of the meeting with Tottenham, with Sarr’s availability remaining a major concern.
The Senegal international has yet to receive a clear return date, as Sage did not provide a specific timeline for his recovery.
For now, Crystal Palace will have to continue without one of their attacking options while hoping that the groin problem does not keep him out for an extended period.
With the Tottenham fixture approaching, attention will remain on Sarr’s recovery and whether he can return to full fitness in time for the club’s upcoming matches.
