Ibrahima Danfakha Keïta makes Getafe debut

Senegalese forward Ibrahima Danfakha Keïta has entered Getafe’s history books after making his senior debut in Thursday’s Copa del Rey victory over UB Lebrijana.

The 17-year-old was handed a starting place by manager José Luis Bordalás as Getafe travelled to face the lower-division side in the first round of the competition. He partnered Borja Mayoral in attack, earning an opportunity to showcase his ability at senior level.

Aged 17 years, 10 months and 18 days, Danfakha Keïta became the fourth-youngest player to start an official match for the Madrid-based club.

His inclusion in the starting line-up marked an important moment in his development, having worked his way through Getafe’s youth ranks before receiving his first opportunity in the senior squad for a competitive fixture.

The Senegalese youngster wore the number 36 shirt and remained on the pitch for 80 minutes before being substituted. His involvement came as a reward for his progress and performances within the club’s youth setup.

Although his appearance was a personal milestone, Danfakha Keïta also became part of a select group of young players who have represented Getafe at such an early age.

Irish forward John Patrick remains the youngest player to start an official match for the club, having achieved the feat at 17 years, two months and 11 days.

Dani Serrano occupies second place on the list after making his appearance at 17 years, four months and 22 days, while Davinchi ranks third with a record of 17 years, 10 months and one day.

Danfakha Keïta now sits fourth on the historical ranking, having narrowly missed out on surpassing Davinchi’s record.

Getafe eventually secured a 3-2 victory over UB Lebrijana to progress in the Copa del Rey, making the occasion even more memorable for the young Senegalese forward.

His debut represents another step in his development at the Spanish club, while his place among Getafe’s youngest-ever starters highlights the progress he has made through the club’s youth system.

The opportunity to feature alongside established first-team players could prove an important experience as he continues his journey towards securing a regular place in the senior squad.
