Justin Njinmah set for Werder Bremen return against Hoffenheim
Justin Njinmah is set to return to the Werder Bremen squad for Saturday’s Bundesliga home clash against TSG Hoffenheim after spending almost two months on the sidelines with a thigh muscle injury.
Head coach Daniel Thioune confirmed that the 25-year-old forward has fully rejoined team training and is ready to take the next step towards competitive action.
Njinmah suffered the injury during Werder’s 4-1 defeat to Freiburg at the start of the season, forcing him to miss several matches. However, his recovery has progressed well, with the Bremen coaching staff now preparing to reintegrate him into the squad.
Despite the encouraging development, Njinmah will not start against Hoffenheim. Thioune made his position clear ahead of the encounter.
“I’m being honest when I say he won’t start,” the Werder coach explained.
However, the forward could feature from the bench, with Thioune suggesting that he is ready to contribute for a significant portion of the match.
“I think he can play half an hour, perhaps even more.”
Njinmah’s pace is expected to provide Bremen with an additional attacking option, particularly during transitions and counterattacks. His ability to exploit spaces behind opposition defences could prove valuable against Hoffenheim.
Thioune also praised the club’s medical department for helping the attacker recover earlier than initially anticipated. The coach is pleased with the careful approach taken throughout the rehabilitation process.
Nevertheless, Njinmah will need to regain match sharpness and compete for his place, with other attacking players having performed well during his absence.
Saturday’s encounter therefore offers the forward an opportunity to make a positive return and gradually rebuild his involvement as Werder Bremen continue their Bundesliga campaign.
