Ousmane Sow Scores Hat Trick in Jagiellonia's 6-0 Victory

Ousmane Sow scored a hat trick as Jagiellonia Białystok swept aside Lechia Gdańsk 6-0 to reach the round of 16 of the Polish Cup on Wednesday.

The Senegalese winger continued his impressive run of form, scoring three times in the second half after finding the net shortly before the break.

His performance helped Jagiellonia secure a convincing victory in the round of 32 and extend their positive run following their league success at the weekend.

Jagiellonia took the lead in the 34th minute through Nedim Prelec, who broke the deadlock and gave the hosts an advantage in the contest.

Sow then doubled the lead six minutes later, scoring in the 40th minute to put Jagiellonia in control heading into half-time.

The winger returned after the interval in determined fashion, scoring his second goal of the match in the 50th minute. Jesús Imaz added a fourth for Jagiellonia in the 54th minute before Sow completed his hat trick seven minutes later.

His third goal came in the 61st minute, capping a productive spell that put the Polish side firmly on course for a place in the next round.

Sow was substituted in the 65th minute, with Kamil Jóźwiak coming on to replace him. Jagiellonia continued to press despite the Senegalese forward’s departure, and D. Rallis added the sixth goal in the 68th minute to complete the 6-0 victory.

The result confirmed Jagiellonia’s progression to the last 16, with the team producing a dominant display against Lechia.

Sow builds on decisive league performance

The hat trick came just days after Sow played a key role in Jagiellonia’s league victory over Wisła Płock on Sunday.

The winger started that match on the bench and entered the game in the 59th minute. He went on to score the decisive goal in the 84th minute, securing a 1-0 win for his side.

His contribution against Wisła Płock had already underlined his importance to the team, and the performance against Lechia provided further evidence of his current form.

Rather than settling for his opening goal, Sow continued to threaten after the break, finding the net twice in the space of 11 minutes to complete his treble.

His three goals were central to Jagiellonia’s emphatic win, which saw the club score six times without conceding.

Jagiellonia advance to the last 16

Jagiellonia’s victory ensures they will continue their Polish Cup campaign in the round of 16. Prelec’s opening goal gave the side the platform to take control, while Imaz and Rallis also contributed to the comprehensive result.

However, Sow’s hat trick stood out as the main highlight of the contest, particularly after his decisive contribution in the league at the weekend.

The Senegalese winger will now look to maintain his scoring form as Jagiellonia continue their campaign on both domestic fronts.
