Raja are preparing to announce the departure of Spanish manager Paco Jemez after the club’s disappointing start to the Moroccan league season, according to Moroccan website Al البطولة.
The decision follows Raja’s 1-1 draw with Hassania Agadir in the fifth round of the competition. Al البطولة reported that the club’s management had decided to dismiss Jemez after the latest result, with the team’s declining results and failure to deliver the expected performances cited as the reasons.
The draw against Hassania Agadir was Raja’s third in a row in the league. They are 11th in the table with six points after five matches.
Raja began the campaign with a victory over Nahdat Zemamra but have since drawn with Maghreb Fes, FUS Rabat and Hassania Agadir in that order.
Their next league fixture is against RS Berkane on Sunday, 1 November.
Raja are also scheduled to face Al Ahly in the CAF Confederation Cup. The two clubs are in Group A alongside Togo’s ASKO Kara and Angolan side Primeiro de Agosto.
Raja secured their place in the group stage by beating Nigerian club El Kanemi Warriors 2-0 in the second leg of their qualifying tie. The first meeting ended 2-2.
Al Ahly will play Raja in the third and fourth rounds of the competition. Cairo Stadium is due to host the Moroccan club between 18 and 20 December, while Al Ahly will travel to face Raja between 8 and 10 January.
