Bayern Munich want Michael Olise to remain at the club for as long as possible, with chief executive Jan-Christian Dreesen saying they will discuss a new contract when the time is appropriate.
The France international is currently under contract with the Bundesliga champions until 2029, so there is no immediate indication that an extension has been agreed or is imminent. However, Dreesen’s comments underline Bayern’s desire to retain the winger beyond his existing deal.
Olise was reportedly a summer transfer target for Real Madrid, but the Spanish club did not complete a move and the 24-year-old continued his career in Munich.
“We want Michael to play for us for as long as possible. When the time is right, we will discuss the future with him,” Dreesen told Sport Bild.
“If someone asked me today whether he would win the Ballon d’Or one day, my answer would always be: I don’t see why not.
“Of course, he also needs a team that functions well around him. He has that here with us, and he appreciates it.”
Bayern signed Olise from Crystal Palace in 2024 in a deal reportedly worth 53 million euros. He has since become an important creative player for the club, producing 21 Bundesliga assists during the 2025/26 campaign.
That total saw him equal the competition’s record for assists by a player in a single season. Across all competitions, Olise registered 31 assists during the campaign.
He came through the youth systems at Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester City before joining Reading in 2017. Olise made his senior debut for Reading in March 2019 and was named EFL Young Player of the Season for 2020/21.
Dreesen also suggested the club believes Olise has the potential to reach the highest individual honours in football, provided he continues to operate in a team capable of supporting his qualities.
The winger’s current Bayern contract runs for another three years, but the club’s public position is that a further agreement could be considered once the timing is right.
