Fenerbahce have appointed former Netherlands international Dirk Kuyt as interim manager following Ismail Kartal’s resignation.
Kartal stepped down after Fenerbahce were beaten by Turkish rivals Galatasaray. He had taken charge at the start of the current season.
Kuyt, a former Liverpool player, had been part of Kartal’s coaching staff before the manager’s departure. Fenerbahce said he would lead the team until a permanent head coach is appointed.
Kartal managed Fenerbahce in 18 matches, recording nine wins, four defeats and five draws.
Fenerbahce are fifth in the Turkish league with 16 points, six behind leaders Galatasaray.
They are also 31st in the Champions League standings, having collected two points from their opening three matches.
