Achraf Hakimi’s new braided hairstyle became a talking point on social media after Paris Saint-Germain beat Olympique Lyonnais 2-0 in Ligue 1 on Monday evening.
The Morocco international had an unfamiliar look after taking to the pitch with his hair styled in braids. Hakimi was also wearing the Paris Saint-Germain captain’s armband in the absence of Marquinhos.
Ligue 1’s official account joined the reaction with a light-hearted message directed at the defender.
“New haircut, but the same incredible elegance,” the account posted.
Hakimi replied in similarly playful fashion, writing: “Tight braids, just like my bond with Paris,” accompanied by a laughing emoji.
The exchange came after a significant victory for Paris Saint-Germain against Lyon, although Hakimi’s performance was not entirely faultless. The defender made some uncharacteristic technical errors during the match, despite the strong season he has produced.
Hakimi was absent from the Ballon d’Or ceremony in London and finished 13th in the world ranking. That position may have appeared harsh in light of his performances throughout the campaign, even though his display against Lyon contained mistakes that are unusual for him.
The Ligue 1 listings associated with the report also show Le Havre on 30 October 2026, the Paris Saint-Germain and Lyon fixture, and Angers on 01 November 2026.
Hakimi joined Paris Saint-Germain in 2021 and has established himself as an important member of the side. His latest appearance combined that responsibility, as stand-in captain, with a noticeable change to his appearance.
The defender’s response underlined his continued connection with the club, turning a simple comment about his hairstyle into a brief exchange with Ligue 1’s official social media account.
