Moussa Diaby ruled out until November international break with thigh injury
Bayer Leverkusen have suffered an injury setback after confirming that Moussa Diaby will be unavailable for the coming weeks following a thigh injury sustained in Sunday’s 3-0 Bundesliga defeat to TSG Hoffenheim.
The 27-year-old French winger suffered a fascia injury in the back of his right thigh shortly before half-time at the PreZero Arena. He was forced off in the 41st minute after appearing to twist awkwardly without contact from an opponent, with Malik Tillman replacing him.
Leverkusen confirmed the diagnosis on Monday, announcing that Diaby is expected to return after the November international break.
The setback comes at a difficult time for the Werkself, who face a demanding run of fixtures across domestic and European competitions.
Leverkusen lose another attacking option
Diaby’s absence will deprive head coach Carles Martínez of an important attacking option as Leverkusen look to respond to their disappointing defeat against Hoffenheim.
The Frenchman’s pace, dribbling ability and capacity to create opportunities from wide areas make him a valuable part of the team’s attacking setup.
His injury also adds to Leverkusen’s growing list of unavailable players during a congested period of the season.
The club will hope Diaby can recover fully during the coming weeks and return to action after the international break without further complications.
For now, the focus will be on managing his rehabilitation while Leverkusen navigate their upcoming fixtures without the French winger.
