The draws for the group stages of the CAF Champions League and CAF Confederation Cup will take place on Wednesday, 28 October, at the headquarters of the Egyptian Football Association in 6th of October City.

The ceremony will begin at 13:00 Egypt time and will be broadcast on ON Sport.

The CAF Champions League teams have been divided into four pots.

Pot 2: Al Hilal, Simba, Petro Atletico, Young Africans

Pot 3: MC Alger, Orlando Pirates, FC Nouadhibou, Horoya Conakry

Pot 4: Club Africain, Williet, Colombe Sportive, Maghreb Fes

The Confederation Cup draw will also feature four pots.

CAF Confederation Cup pots

Pot 1: Al Ahly, USM Alger, AS FAR and the winner of the tie between CR Belouizdad and Mauritanian club Douanes

Pot 2: Raja CA, Maniema Union, Azam FC and CS Sfaxien

Pot 3: Al Ahli Tripoli, Singida, Black Bulls and Real Bamako

Pot 4: ASKO Kara, Red Arrows, 1o de Agosto and Durban City

The identity of the final team in Pot 1 remains unresolved because the two matches between Douanes and CR Belouizdad were postponed following a complaint from Guinea’s Horoya Conakry.

The first leg had been scheduled for 17 October, with the return fixture due to be played between 23 and 25 October. However, the court ordered the matches to be delayed after Horoya challenged the decision.

Horoya maintain that Douanes’ failure to travel to Conakry for the scheduled match on 11 September was caused by organisational shortcomings that could have been avoided, rather than circumstances amounting to force majeure.

Douanes did not arrive for the match on the original date, citing logistical reasons. The fixture was later played and ended in victory for the Mauritanian side, but Horoya appealed, arguing that there had been no force majeure circumstances to justify the delegation’s failure to attend.

The group-stage matches in both competitions will be played across six rounds. The opening round is scheduled for 27, 28 and 29 November, followed by the second round on 4, 5 and 6 December.

The third round will take place on 18, 19 and 20 December. The fourth round is set for 8, 9 and 10 January, while the fifth round will be played on 15, 16 and 17 January. The final round is scheduled for 22, 23 and 24 January.

Teams from the same country will not be kept apart in the draw. As a result, AS FAR could be placed in the same group as Raja CA.
