Pedri says Barcelona must quickly recover from their 2-1 defeat by Real Madrid after admitting they failed to produce the required performance in the Clasico at Camp Nou.
The Barcelona midfielder was particularly critical of his side’s first-half display in the Spanish league fixture. He said the team improved after half-time and managed to level the score, but were punished for failing to defend the counter-attack that produced Real Madrid’s winning goal.
Speaking to DAZN, Pedri said Barcelona lacked fluency in possession and made too many avoidable errors.
“We were far too slow in the first half and made many silly mistakes,” he said. “Against teams like this, you pay the price.”
Pedri expressed his disappointment at the result, given the importance of the match to Barcelona’s players and supporters. He said the squad had wanted to win the Clasico and dedicate the victory to the fans, but were unable to do so.
The Spain midfielder also stressed that the result would not decide the Spanish league title, with the season still continuing and opportunities to recover remaining.
Barcelona must now put the defeat behind them and focus on their next match, Pedri added.
