Real Madrid led Barcelona 1-0 at half-time in El Clasico after Kylian Mbappe scored in the 41st minute, with the forward benefiting from a defensive error by Barcelona full-back Gerard Martin.
The goal came after Diomande delivered a cross from the left. Martin attempted to clear the ball but failed to make proper contact, allowing it to strike Mbappe’s leg and change direction on its way into the net past goalkeeper Joan Garcia.
The deflection gave Real Madrid the lead in a moment where fortune played a significant part.
Real Madrid had produced the stronger first-half performance, using their attacking movement effectively and repeatedly threatening Barcelona from the left flank. Their pressure eventually brought a reward, giving the home side an advantage before the interval.
Barcelona were unable to prevent Real Madrid from turning their greater attacking threat into the opening goal, while Mbappe’s intervention ensured the visitors’ defensive mistake was punished.
The La Liga schedule also lists Barcelona against Deportivo Alaves on 31 October 2026, while Racing Santander are due to face Real Madrid in La Liga on 01 November 2026.
