Hansi Flick demands Barcelona focus as Real Madrid prepare for Camp Nou Clasico

Hansi Flick has urged Barcelona to remain fully focused before their La Liga Clasico against Real Madrid at Camp Nou tonight, while praising Lamine Yamal’s performances this season and offering a measured response to Thibaut Courtois’ absence.

Speaking to DAZN shortly before kick-off, Barcelona manager Flick acknowledged the quality of their opponents but insisted his side had the ability to compete.

“Real Madrid are a great team, but we also have significant ability,” said Flick. “I want to see the team focused.”

Flick believes his players are well equipped to handle the demands of the fixture, having faced Real Madrid several times since he arrived two years ago.

“I think the players know very well how to manage the match, especially a Clasico,” he said. “We have played many similar games against Real Madrid over the past two years since I arrived, so the players have enough experience and know what is waiting for them.”

The German said he was calm despite the attention surrounding the match and stressed that Barcelona must concentrate on their responsibilities once the game begins.

“I am calm, and it is great to see everyone following this match, but we have to focus on what we need to do on the pitch,” he added.

Flick also highlighted the progress of Lamine Yamal, saying the Barcelona forward’s approach in training had been central to his impressive campaign.

“Lamine Yamal is having a wonderful season,” said Flick. “He shows his commitment and his mentality in every training session, and it is amazing to watch him. I hope he always continues to play at this level.”

The manager was also asked about Courtois’ absence. Flick recognised the goalkeeper’s status but said Barcelona had injuries of their own to manage.

“We know that he is one of the best goalkeepers in the world, and he proves that in every match,” Flick said. “But we also have injured players, and that is something we have to deal with.”
