Dahane Beida appointed to referee Mamelodi Sundowns’ CAF Super Cup final

Mauritanian referee Dahane Beida will take charge of next month’s CAF Super Cup final between Mamelodi Sundowns and USM Alger at Loftus Stadium in Pretoria on Sunday, 8 November.

The 34-year-old is considered one of Africa’s leading officials and has been appointed by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) for the 2026 CAF Super Cup showpiece.

Beida has officiated at major international competitions, including last year’s FIFA Club World Cup in the United States of America. He has also been selected to referee matches at this year’s FIFA World Cup in North America.

The final will bring together the winners of Africa’s two major club competitions. Mamelodi Sundowns qualified after winning the 2025/26 CAF Champions League, while USM Alger enter the match as reigning Confederation Cup champions.

The meeting gives Sundowns the chance to claim another continental trophy on home soil, with the match taking place at the Tshwane club’s Loftus Stadium.

There is also significant financial reward at stake. The winners will receive $500,000, approximately R8.2 million, while the defeated finalists will earn $250,000, equivalent to R4.1 million.

Sundowns have won the Super Cup once before. Their previous success came in 2017, when they defeated DR Congo club TP Mazembe.

That final was also played at Loftus, giving the South African side another opportunity to draw on a familiar setting as they seek to add to their growing collection of honours.

The Pretoria match will therefore see the reigning Champions League winners face the holders of the Confederation Cup, with Beida selected to oversee the continental contest.
