The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) has postponed the AFC Champions League Elite league-stage fixture between Saudi Arabia’s Al-Nassr and UAE side Al-Wasl.
The match had been scheduled to take place in Saudi Arabia on Monday, 26 October 2026. However, Al-Wasl have not yet travelled to Riyadh, with disruption to air travel in Saudi Arabia and conditions in the region appearing to have affected the club’s decision to make the journey.
In a statement, the AFC said: “It has been decided to reschedule the league-stage match of the AFC Champions League Elite 2026-2027 between Saudi Arabia’s Al-Nassr Club and UAE’s Al-Wasl Club, which was scheduled to be played on Monday, 26 October 2026 in Saudi Arabia, to a later date.”
Al-Wasl had still not arrived in Riyadh to prepare for the fixture.
The Middle East newspaper reported that the Saudi Arabian Football Federation, working with Al-Nassr, had made all the necessary arrangements for the UAE club’s arrival.
Those arrangements included the required official permits, as well as the organisational and logistical procedures needed for the team to travel to the Saudi capital.
The refereeing team and match official appointed by the AFC had already arrived in Riyadh. Al-Wasl’s delegation, however, had not reached the city when the postponement was announced.
A new date for the fixture has not been provided.
