Nicholas Jackson says Aston Villa’s victory over Manchester City is ‘just the beginning’

Nicholas Jackson says Aston Villa’s 2-1 victory over Manchester City is “just the beginning” after his two goals secured victory in the eighth round of the Premier League.

The Senegal striker led Villa to victory with a brace against City, continuing his impressive run of form for the club.

“It was great. It was difficult, but we got the win,” Jackson told English broadcaster TNT.

Jackson, who has scored six goals in his past six appearances for Aston Villa in all competitions, said he was pleased with the progress made by the team.

“I am healthy now and I hope to keep working,” he added. “I am very happy with the manager, the players and the fans.”

The forward believes Villa can build on their win over Manchester City and collect more victories.

“We can win more games,” he said. “It is easier because of the manager.”

Jackson also praised the atmosphere within the squad and said he hoped to continue adding to his goals tally.

“The dressing room is great. The manager is great,” he said. “I hope to score more goals. This is just the beginning.”

The result extended Aston Villa’s strong recent record against Manchester City, with Villa winning five of their past seven meetings in all competitions.
